By installing or using SpeedWise (the "app"), you agree to these terms. The app is provided as a personal-use driving companion. Please read carefully.
1. The app is a prototype
SpeedWise is a France-first prototype that estimates speed limits and the associated points-and-fine risk based on publicly available map data (Overture Maps, IGN BD TOPO) and the French penalty bands published on Service-Public.fr. The data may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Estimates are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind.
2. Not legal advice
Penalty figures shown in the app are estimates, not legal advice. The current French traffic law and the speed limits posted on road signs take precedence over anything the app displays. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules of the road.
3. Driver responsibility
SpeedWise is a glanceable companion, not a navigation system and not a substitute for paying attention to the road. Do not interact with your iPhone while driving. Look at the lock-screen / Live Activity only when it is safe to do so. The Live Activity surface is designed to be passive precisely so you do not need to interact with the app while moving.
4. No encouragement to speed
The app exists to help drivers stay below the legal limit, not to optimize how to break it. Risk estimates above the legal limit are shown so you understand the consequence of speeding — not as guidance on how much faster you can safely go.
5. Privacy
See the privacy policy for how the app handles location data.
6. Changes
These terms may be updated. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.
